The wedding day for the soon to be married couple is one of a kind experience and a very special moment in their life. That is why it is extremely important to have something to remind them about that day. One of those things can be wedding photography – a great way to capture both feelings and emotions of that special moment. But who better shoot those with than with your loved ones?
Bridesmaid photos are widely discussed, but most of them revolve around the same concept of preparations, dresses and helping the bride on a big day. But what if you could take very special pictures of the bride with the bridal party, using just some props?
Smoke bombs and flares are fireworks that emit colourful smoke in large amounts. Smoke is a great way, to add some movement to the photos and create some unusual scenery. You can use them to not only smoke up the background but also to make shapes in the photo.
You have to plan the photo shoot in advance and pick the location carefully. Make sure there is no wind while you are using the grenades in order to keep the heavy smoke in the picture, otherwise it will disappear very quickly. Ideal location for that is either between the buildings or in the woods. It is not recommended to use the grenades inside. The movement in the picture has to be rather slow, in order to get the best possible shot. If the flare will be moved too quickly, the smoke will be thinner and lose a bit of colour. It is also a great idea to ask someone else to smoke up the background. Involve other people in the photoshoot- maybe the groomsman can be of assistance.
Make sure that you are choosing the colour of flares, that matches the clothes of the participants and will be still visible in the environment you are shooting in.
If you have a possibility of using the natural light, you can get great photos by placing people in front of the light source. This way when the background gets’ some smoke, the light will be coming through the smoke, creating a very special effect.
Make sure you are ready for the shot, before pulling the safety pin out, because most of those grenades have really short burning time and don’t emit smoke for too long.
Be aware that you are essentially working with a colourful powder, which can leave stains. To make sure that you will not ruin the white dress, keep the grenade in the distance or ask the bride to bring a change of clothes for the photoshoot.
Moreover, it is a firework, which means it gets hot over time. Hold the flare just on the very end of it, because that is the spot when it doesn’t get as hot as in the middle. Make sure no one will get burns or any stains on their skin and clothes. The smoke bomb gets warmer after it stops smoking, so make sure to put it on the ground just when it stops.
Those fireworks are great for a photo shoot and create one of a kind effect for the photos. Also, it is simply just lots of fun to play with them during the photo shoot and try to achieve the perfect shot.
